Privacy Policy

Montana (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an AI-assisted nutrition and fitness coaching app operated by Montana. For any privacy questions or requests, contact hello@montana.fit. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

• To provide the core features: tracking nutrition and training, and coaching you toward your goals.
• To generate AI estimates and feedback (meal macros, body-composition estimates, form pointers, suggestions).
• To let your human coach support you.
• To secure, maintain, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

To produce estimates and feedback, relevant content you submit (e.g. meal descriptions or photos, physique photos, and sampled frames from form-check clips) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, for processing. This data is processed to return a result to you and is not used to train their models under their commercial API terms. AI outputs are estimates and general guidance, not medical advice.

If you explicitly opt in, progress photos you select are sent to our 3D model provider (fal.ai) to generate a 3D model of you. This is a separate, optional consent from uploading photos, is limited to users aged 18 or over, and the photos are shared only via short-lived, signed links. The resulting model is stored privately, is accessible only to you (and your coach), and can be deleted at any time. The model is a stylised approximation, not a body measurement. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Progress/physique photos are sensitive personal data. This feature is strictly optional, limited to users aged 18 or over, and requires your explicit consent before any photo is uploaded. These photos are stored privately, are only accessible to you (and your coach), and are served via short-lived, signed links. You can delete any photo or clip at any time from within the app, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Data is stored with our infrastructure providers Supabase (database and file storage) and Vercel (hosting). Photos and videos live in private storage buckets protected by per-user access rules and are never publicly listable. Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted to you, your coach, and the systems needed to operate the service.

We share data only with service providers that help us run the app, under contract: Supabase (storage/database), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (AI processing), fal.ai (3D model generation, only if you opt in), and the USDA FoodData Central API (for verified food data lookups, which does not receive your personal data). Your coach can view your data to provide coaching.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual photos, clips, and logged items at any time in the app. You can request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting hello@montana.fit, or via the in-app account-deletion option where available; we will action it promptly.

Subject to UK/EU data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact hello@montana.fit. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Some providers (e.g. Anthropic, fal.ai) process data outside the UK/EU. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

The app is not intended for children. The physique-photo features are restricted to users aged 18 or over.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
